3 Recipes You Have to Try

Oysters are delicious, raw, fried, baked, and just amazing. But that doesn't mean we can't step our game up with some delicious and playful recipe ideas for your next order. Below are three recipes from the team at the farm - simple and delicious! Comment below with any recipes you think we should try!



1. Oyster Po' Boy Sandwich


Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh oysters

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce

  • 3 cups vegetable oil

  • 2 crusty French rolls

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce

  • 1/4 cup sliced tomatoes

  • 1/4 cup sliced pickles

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  2. In another bowl, mix together cornmeal, milk, and hot sauce.

  3. Dredge the oysters in the flour mixture and then the cornmeal mixture.

  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Fry the oysters until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  6. Cut the French rolls in half and spread mayonnaise on each side.

  7. Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced pickles on the bottom half of the roll.

  8. Top with fried oysters and the other half of the roll.

  9. Serve immediately.

2. Oyster Stuffed Mushrooms


Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh oysters

  • 12 large mushrooms

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Remove stems from mushrooms and chop them finely.

  3. In a bowl, mix together chopped mushroom stems, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, melted butter, salt, and pepper.

  4. Rinse and pat dry the oysters.

  5. Fill each mushroom cap with the breadcrumb mixture, then place an oyster on top of each mushroom cap.

  6. Place the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and the oysters are cooked through.

  7. Serve hot.

3. Oyster Tacos


Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh oysters

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce

  • 3 cups vegetable oil

  • 8 small corn tortillas

  • 1/2 cup chopped cabbage

  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

  • 1/4 cup diced red onion

  • 1/4 cup crumbled queso fresco

  • Lime wedges

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  2. In another bowl, mix together cornmeal, milk, and hot sauce.

  3. Dredge the oysters in the flour mixture and then the cornmeal mixture.

  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Fry the oysters until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  6. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat.

  7. Assemble the tacos by adding chopped cabbage, cilantro, red onion, and queso fresco to each tortilla.

  8. Top with fried oysters and a squeeze of lime.

  9. Serve immediately.
